Nikon shakes up the premium compact market with a whole new range that gives ‘always-on’ photographers a portable way to 24/7 perfection. With legendary NIKKOR optics and powerful Nikon technology, Nikon DL premium compacts deliver incredible image quality for every opportunity.
Three models make up the all-new range: the Nikon DL24-85 f/1.8-2.8, the Nikon DL18-50 f/1.8-2.8, and the Nikon DL24-500 f/2.8-5.6. Each camera boasts a fixed NIKKOR zoom lens with high-performance optics to match those found in Nikon DSLR lenses, and a fast 1-inch CX-format sensor. Whichever Nikon DL camera a photographer uses, they can capture 20.8 MP stills in JPEG or NEF (RAW) format, and 4K/UHD movies at 30p/25p.
Every Nikon DL premium compact also employs Nikon’s acclaimed Advanced Hybrid AF system for blazingly fast subject acquisition. An EXPEED 6A processor with no less than four CPUs is the engine behind each camera’s astonishing shooting speeds: up to a mind-blowing 60 fps with focus fixed at the first frame, or up to 20 fps with continuous AF. Nikon’s Dual Detect Optical VR (Vibration Reduction) system delivers enhanced shake detection and correction, and every camera boasts rapid start up and response times. In addition, each camera features an ISO 518 hot shoe, which accepts various accessories including trusted Nikon DSLR Speedlights. Dedicated Nikon DL accessories include the optional DF-E1 tiltable electronic viewfinder (EVF) with eye sensor, which offers clear visibility and a high-contrast information display. Nikon DSLR users will also appreciate the familiar control buttons, dials and menus. And the lens barrel on each camera is detailed with the signature gold NIKKOR ring.
Pairing a smart device with your Nikon camera is a simple, one-time operation. Simply install the SnapBridge app on your smartphone or tablet, power up your camera, and select it from the in-app list of available devices. SnapBridge stays connected to your camera in the background: now you can transfer shots as you shoot without needing to reconnect each time. Images will even sync with your camera while it’s in sleep mode, and you can continue to use your smart device without interruption. With SnapBridge your smart device can display a live view of everything your Nikon camera sees. Compose shots on the screen of your smartphone or tablet and remotely fire the shutter to capture the image.
Tim Carter, Senior Product Manager, COOLPIX and Nikon 1 at Nikon UK, says: “Nikon are entering the premium compact market with not one, but three impressive cameras that are guaranteed to excite photographers not willing to compromise on their images. Each camera offers something unique and different, and the performance of the fixed NIKKOR lenses will challenge what you think you know about compact image quality. The range offers superb portability and speed, allowing you to choose your camera like you choose your lens. Each camera is equipped with a NIKKOR lens offering a different focal length, enabling you to choose one depending on the style of photography you shoot. When paired with the SnapBridge app sharing your images is fast and simple. Photographers will be blown away by the handiness and quality of these exceptional little cameras.”
